Steve Solomon

Steve Solomon is one of the media industry's most well respected leaders. He has been working with Doug Perlman for almost 15 years. In addition to his background at media companies and sports leagues, Steve brings significant consulting, advisory and investing experience to SMA. Steve has provided consulting services for Major League Soccer, Sports Illustrated, Octagon Worldwide, ESPN, NASCAR, The National Hockey League, The Southeast Conference, The New York Road Runners, Little League International, The New York Red Bulls, Anschutz Entertainment Group, Stats Inc., John Hancock, Sportvision, Tickets.com, Trakus, ExpertMedic and others.
Prior to the creation of his successful advisory firm, Steve was employed by Univision Communications Inc., the leading Spanish-language television broadcaster, as President of its sports division. In that role, he was responsible for the acquisition of all sports properties for the Univision Network as well as having overall responsibility for the Company's cable network, Galavsion.
Prior to Univision, Steve served as the Executive Vice President and COO of the National Hockey League, where he was responsible for the management of the League's broadcasting, technology, marketing and public relations operations, as well as having overall responsibility for the business activities of NHL Enterprises, the marketing and merchandising arm of the league.
From 1972 to 1992, Steve was with ABC. In 1986 he joined ABC SPORTS as Senior Vice President, Sports Planning and Administration.
He ultimately served as Executive Vice President of Programming and Administration where he was responsible for the business operations of the network's sports division, including programming and acquisition of rights, marketing, finance, administration, and on-air promotion and advertising.
From 1968 to 1972 Mr. Solomon served as an appellate litigator for the National Labor Relations Board
Steve serves on the Board of Overseers for Athletics for Tufts University, on the Boards of Directors for Sportvison, Trakus, and Sports Technology Inc. In addition, Mr. Solomon served as a member on the National Awards Committee for the Television Academy, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum, the Board of Directors for USA Hockey, as well as the New York City Sports Commission.
A native of New York, Steve is a graduate of Tufts University and St. John's University Law School. Steve lives in New York City and Redding Connecticut with his wife Laura and has three children.
